Andrew and his clients do everything possible to plan for the prevention and rapid and informal resolution of disputes. This is done with a view to preserving relationships wherever possible. 

And yet there are times when even the most diligent and reasonable of natural resource clients are subject to persistent arbitrary, unfair or abusive treatment that must be confronted directly. 

Andrew thus provides natural resources litigation services for matters before the courts, tribunals, arbitral panels and other fora.

Andrew has appeared before the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench, the Manitoba Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (including Divisional Court) and the federal Tax Court of Canada. 

He has also appeared before the Ontario Energy Board, the predecessor to the Ontario Lands Tribunal, the Ontario Consent and Capacity Board, the Manitoba Mining Board, and the federal Immigration and Refugee Board as well as providing advice on arbitrations. 

Andrew has recently obtained an interim order of prohibition against a provincial government taking adverse actions against a natural resources client. He has successfully acted as counsel in many contentious situations such as a proxy contest to replace the leadership and board of a publicly traded miner. He has been involved in the settlement and informal resolution of numerous disputes.
